+++ We need your voice! +++

We have teamed up with International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN) and European Young Chemists' Network (EYCN) to evaluate how young chemists around the world view the importance of sustainable chemistry in education and how it affects their future carreer choices. Please help us get a good picture of young chemists' needs in these times by taking part and sharing the survey amongst your colleagues and fellow students:

Here you can take part in the survey until 20th July 2020: https://forms.gle/4fTVA67oLagiZNy76

- Less than 5 minutes
- German version available

As young chemists we represent roughly 1/3 of all GDCh members, so it is important that we set our pulse. We need as many participants in the GDCh members survey as possible who want to shape the future of the GDCh with us.

How should the future of the GDCh look like? What should be promoted? How and where can we grow? Help us to get a picture of the wishes of the members so we can bring the GDCh together forward.

Participation via received email link to the given address (sent March 19) or via registration here: https://umfrage.gdch.de/2020

The 8th EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC8) has to be postponed due to the current situation. Instead, it will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 28th August to 1st September 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemia cannot be defeated without mathematic-scientific expertise. Together with four more mathematic-scientific societies the GDCh expresses this in a position paper.

You can read the statement HERE.

Katharina Uebele is the youngest board member the GDCh has ever had. In the interview with ChemistryViews she talks about the commitment of young people within the GDCh and why it is of high importance for her.

You can read the whole interview HERE.

German young chemist and former JCF board member Willis Collins Muganda took part in the #EUvsVirus Hackathon last week. He was interviewed by the EU media team in his function as mentor and youth ambassador in the civil society group. Check out what he has to say about the amazing youth engagement and why hackathons are not only about technology. We would like to thank all young chemists that continue to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in every way they can.

Our chairman of the national board Tobias Wilcke reports in the networks@Evonik blog over studies and networking during corona and how the JCF is affected.

You can read his whole report HERE.

Tim and Emiel of the JCF national board were virtually guests at Carbolution Chemicals GmbH. During the #strongtogether conversation CEO Michael Bauer asked the two how they and the JCF deal with the corona crisis. The whole talk is available as video or audio version:

🚨🚨🚨 Fighting Corona 🚨🚨🚨

The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker e.V. (GDCh) is promoting PIRAT (Pandemic Important Resource Allocation Tool), a tool to register and efficiently distribute necessary resources in exceptional situations such as a pandemic. With the platform, universities and research institutions can provide currently unused resources - equipment, consumables, and personnel. These can then be requested by corona test labs to increase the test capacities.

For further information check the webpage and help to broadcast the project.

The second episode of the new format "Ask Me Anything" was recorded by the JCF Mainz-Wiesbaden in cooperation with the JUnQ Journal („Journal of Unsolved Questions“).🎥 This time the well-known chemist 👨‍🔬 und author 📚 Prof. Dr. Klaus Roth from the FU Berlin answered the questions of the Young Chemists. Have fun watching🖥 and many thanks to the Mainzer for the produktion!
